Carbon Offsetting: An Ethical and Psychological Approach

The carbon offset market is becoming more and more popular. However, 57 until now few studies have attempted to approach the phenomenon from a social sciences’ perspective. By distinguishing three levels of analysis – the technical, psychological and ethical aspects – this work has a double objective: to better understand the mechanisms underlying the offsetting phenomenon and to evaluate its effectiveness as a greenhouse gas emissions mitigation tool. Meules hydrauliques et à traction animale antiques en Bourgogne/Franche-Comté. Luc Jaccottey (INRAP)

La reprise de l’ensemble des collections archéologiques de ces deux régions a amené à la découverte de toute une série de meules dont le diamètre trop important permet d’exclure un entrainement à bras. Ces meules sont principalement de deux types : les premières présentent une conicité assez forte, une surface supérieure du catillus parallèle à la surface active et un système d’entrainement le plus généralement par anilles crampons. Les secondes plus plates, sont typologiquement plus proches des meules à main.
