Three key elements setting SDGs apart in the history of development

In this video, Tancrède Voituriez, a researcher at CIRAD, provides an analysis of what the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are and what they are not. He then goes on to discuss the relationship between the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the SDGs, the origin of the values supported by the SDGs and finally the paradoxical situation of the European Union with regard to this political project.

The SDGsʼ geographic universality: an agenda for all nations

In this video, Hubert de Milly, an expert at the French Development Agency (AFD), highlights the universality of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First of all, he highlights the need for all countries in the world to become more sustainable. He then goes one to analyse the special responsibility of northern countries for the achievement, by all, of the SDGs, before raising the issue of Official Development Assistance.

In this video, Sarah Marniesse, Director of the Department of Research and Innovation Mobilisation at IRD until June 2018, and now Head of AFD's Development Campus, outlines the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the context of building the sustainable development agenda and how it differs from the MDG (Millennium Development Goals) agenda. She also explains what the targets and monitoring indicators associated with these SDGs are. Finally, she discusses the feasibility of implementing this agenda.
