Professor Peter de Bolla is Reader in Cultural History and Aesthetics in the University of Cambridge. He is the author of seven books, among them The Discourse of the Sublime: Readings in History, Aesthetics and the Subject (Blackwell); Art Matters (Harvard University Press), and The Education of the Eye: Painting, Landscape and Architecture in eighteenth-century Britain (Stanford University Press). He is currently a Leverhulme Major Research Fellow working on the concept of human rights.
