Friedrichs, Jürgen (1938-.... ; sociologue)

Friedrichs, Jürgen, Prof. Dr. Studies in Sociology, Philosophy, Social Psychology and Economics. After PhD at the University of Hamburg Assistant at the Institute of Sociology, University of Hamburg, since 1973 chair of Sociology. Since 1991 chair of Sociology at the University of Cologne, Director of the Research Institute for Sociology until 2007.

From 1992 until today senior editor of the Kölner Zeitschrift für Soziologie and Social Psychology – the largest and most renowned Sociology journal in Germany. Emeritus since 2007, but still teaching and conducting research projects at the Research Institute for Sociology at the University of Cologne. Present research projects: poverty neighbourhoods, gentrification, neighbourhood effects, Christian and Muslim voluntary organizations.
