Victor Ginsburgh
Victor Ginsburgh is honorary Professor of Economics at Université Libre de Bruxelles, and former co-director of the European Center for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics. He was visitor at Yale University, University of Chicago, University of Virginia, University of Louvain, as well as in Marseilles, Paris, Strasbourg and Alexandria. He wrote and edited a dozen of books and is the author of over 160 papers on topics in applied and theoretical economics, including industrial organization and general equilibrium analysis. His more recent interests go to art history and art philosophy, two fields in which he tries to put to use his knowledge of economics. He has published over 50 papers on these topics, some of which appeared in the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, Games and Economic Behavior, the Journal of Economic Perspectives and the European Economic Review. He is coeditor of a Handbook of the Economics of Art and Culture (Elsevier-North Holland, 2006) and is preparing the second volume. He is also preparing a book on the economics of languages. He is coauthor of the "Study on the economic and technical evolution of the scientific publication markets in Europe" commissioned by DG-Research, European Commission, published in January 2006.
