Descriptif

To make the Lamiaceae family monophyletic, it was necessary to transfer 2/3 of the genera of Verbenaceae to it. Under these conditions, Lamiaceae become a relatively large cosmopolitan family with about 7000 species and 260 genders. More than140 wild species of Lamiaceae grow in France.

Lamiaceae are both herbaceous and woody plants. The White Lamium is the representative of the gender Lamium, a typical genus of the Lamiaceae family. The rod has clearly 4 angles, called quadrangular, collenchymal bundles at the angles allowing a rigid carrying. This is a common trait among Lamiaceae.

The flowers are often in clusters or terminal ears or axillaires of contracted cymes called glomeruli. Two opposite glomeruli form a verticillastre.

The fruitis often a multiple fruit giving four mericarps at maturity.

Rich inessential oil, often made up of oxidized terpenes (terpenols, terpenones), many species are used for their condimentary (thyme, savory, savory, serpolet, rosemary, sage, oregano), food (mints) and/or medicinal properties.

Thus, the black horehound, Ballota nigra, calms nervous disorders, digestive and respiratory spasms.

Officinal betony, Stachys officinalis with its typically crenellated leaves has an antibacterial essential oil, diterpenes, iridoids and antioxidant properties.

The common skullcap, Scutellaria galericulata, has anxiolytic properties. Lemon balm, Melissa officinalis, has properties on the digestive tract.

Ground Ivy, Glechoma hederacea, has tonic and diuretic leaves and flowers.

The film was shot at the Talence Botanical Garden, which is part of the University of Bordeaux.
