Ludwig, Ralph (1956-....)

Ralph Ludwig is Professor of Romance Philology/French and Spanish Linguistics at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg.

He has carried out a number of research projects that have resulted in publications and reflect his interests, such as Franco-Creole, the tension between orality and writing, Latin American Spanish and the theory of language and cultural contact. Working with and on concrete corpus texts as well as pursuing grammatical questions forms a common thread. In his eyes, creating, transcribing and examining authentic audio and video recordings in other societies are not only associated with language and linguistics, but also with more fundamental intercultural skills, especially today. Here, experienced researchers through to young students learn and practice the general ability to find their way into more or less foreign societies,

Reflections on ecolinguistics have been at the center of the last few years (an anthology edited together with P. Mühlhäusler and S. Pagel will be published by Cambridge University Press in spring 2017). In addition, there are strong research interests in the area of ​​Francophone literature and the French Enlightenment and its non-European reception (this includes the publication of the anthology "Écrire la Parole de Nuit", with contributions by É. Glissant, P. Chamoiseau, R. Confiant, R. Depestre et al., Gallimard/ Folio Essais 1994, 4th edition 2010, and the monograph Franco-Caribbean Literature: An Introduction, Fool 2008). In addition to concrete language studies, he is currently working on a book on memory, literature and narrative identity constructions by Saint-Pierre de la Martinique (in collaboration with the Université des Antilles )
