Descriptif
The coordinators of the Forêts froides International Research Project (IRP), Yves BERGERON (Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue) and Adam ALI (Université de Montpellier), along with Dorian GABORIAU (Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue), tell us about their French-Quebecois collaboration.
The Forêts froides IRP aims to conduct collaborative research between France and Canada – in particular Quebec – to analyze and model the functioning of cold forests in the northern hemisphere in the context of climate change. The aim is to develop adaptive management strategies to promote the resilience of these ecosystems in the face of climate and societal change.
The project’s French institutional partners are the CNRS, the Université de Montpellier, the Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, and the Institut de recherche pour le développement (IRD), coordinated by Ali Adam, professor at the Institut des Sciences et de l’Évolution de Montpellier (UMR CNRS-Université de Montpellier-IRD). On the Canadian side, the Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT) is leading the project, with Yves Bergeron, professor at UQAT’s Institut de recherche sur les forêts, as coordinator.
The project is also strongly supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Nature et Technologies through an annual research grant.
