Abstract: Nutritional epidemiology is essential for elucidating diet–health associations, but its reliance on self-reported dietary assessment continues to draw empirical criticism. Likewise, although the nutrition science community is united in its goal to improve diet quality, translating this objective into effective clinical counseling remains challenging because of marked inter-individual differences in response to diet. This talk will present novel examples of how metabolomics can help address these two recurrent challenges in nutritional epidemiology and clinical nutrition.
