Descriptif
In this video, Serge Michailof,a researcher at the Institute for International and Strategic Relations (IRIS)and the Foundation for International Development Research (FERDI), discussesthe capacity of so-called "fragile" countries to achieve theSustainable Development Goals. Based on an analysis of the emergencies faced bythese countries, he questions the validity of universal indicators designed forall countries, from the richest to the poorest and most fragile. Whilecriticising the shortcomings of the former Millennium Goals, he regretted thatthey had not been completed and, once adapted, maintained in the case of themost fragile countries. For the latter, he highlights the prior need to rebuildstrong and functional states.
