He received a Master’s degree in Urban Design and Planning from Tongji University, Shanghai China and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Copperbelt University in Zambia. Gerald combines his academic work with Architecture and urban design practice and has experience working in Zambia and China.
After 12 years in China, he moved to South Africa to join Wits University as a lecturer in Architecture. In the last five years, Gerald has been working on various construction projects involving Chinese in Zambia in addition to his academic pursuits and interests in Sino-Africa relationship and urban (In)formalities. Gerald is currently doing his PhD in Urbanism at Università di Venezia in Italy.
