Descriptif

Ce programme consacré à l'histoire de l'Anthropologie Britannique se propose de retracer l'histoire de la discipline à travers les différentes étapes théoriques et les interprétations qui ont contribué à son évolution au sein du monde académique anglo-saxon. Adam Kuper évoque cette histoire de l'Anthropologie Britannique comme une histoire de famille.

Les croquis qu'il dessine sont pris « sur le vif », « de l'intérieur », revendiquant ce point de vue à la fois exceptionnel et contraignant. Son entretien est accompagné par des notes de synthèse qui aident à retracer le contexte culturel et historique dans lequel ces anthropologues se positionnent.

En raison du caractère historique de l'ouvrage d'Adam Kuper nous avons choisi de présenter la bibliographie avec les éditions originales des ouvrages. Pour beaucoup d'entre elles, existent des traductions françaises et des nouvelles éditions. En ce qui concerne les textes de Durkheim, ils ont été réédités pour la plupart, à plusieurs reprises par les Presses Universitaires de France (PUF).
