Descriptif
Résumé de la communication : 'This presentation aims at better understanding the uncontested role played by the Ulster-Scots in favour of the American revolutionary cause. From the 1710s to the spark of the American War of Independence, the Ulster-Scots were numerous to come to the British colonies of North America in search of a 'land of promise', and usually settled in the 'backcountry' , 'the frontier'. This study is then going to offer a clear insight into their role as frontiersmen, but also as pioneers of the Revolution, considering their transatlantic identity but also transatlantic links from Ulster to North America, and from North America to Ulster.'
