Descriptif

The Analakely's old Friday market, the Zoma, with itsold pavilions built at the beginning of the 20th century were once a leadingtourist attraction in the heart of Antananarivo. But, the flower market ofyesteryear has turned into a thrift store and the place with countless whiteparasols into an ugly parking lot, the film translates this aesthetic shock oftangible reality confronted with images allowed by memory. It aims to keep inthe collective memory an urban space, the memory of the splendours ofyesteryear gives spleen to the voice-over. Marcel runs a shop at Zoma, he is anawareness of the place, an eye that has seen many seasons in this market. Weaccompany Marcel in his peregrinations through the ages and hisrepresentations, he evokes his own path and that of the market. The cameratakes the viewer to experience this territory for the duration of the film ; itcrosses different zones, putting the spectator in close contact with its usersand different trades. A black market is seen functioning openly. People alsocome to the Zoma to find various panaceas, such as "total talisman to wardoff evil spirits".
