Abstract : Clinical evidence suggests that an elevated resting heart rate is a risk factor for mortality and morbidity in heart failure (HF) patients. SHIfT examined the effect of adding ivabradine, a heart rate lowering therapy, to optimised standard therapy in HF patients with a heart rate ?70bpm, in sinus rhythm and with left ventricular systolic dysfunction.1 Ivabradine plus standard therapy significantly reduced the risk of a primary composite event (CV death and hospitalisation for worsening HF) versus standard therapy (hazard ratio 0.82, 95% CI: 0.75-0.90 p
