CCW2022

Descriptif
Organizers: RTR MiDi, Thematic Research Network Milieux & Diversity (University of Tours - Centre Val de Loire Region)
This international conference gathered scientists and water managers from more than 26 countries to discuss the challenges of climate extremes (floods, droughts, coastal storms) and adaptation solutions.
This multidisciplinary symposium was held in plenary session to exchange knowledge on climate modeling, hydrological modeling, impacts, management and governance of water in the context of these issues.
Particular emphasis was placed on the study of the water-energy-food-ecosystems nexus (WEFE nexus) for a sustainable management of water and aquatic environments.
A session on the vine, an emblematic crop of the Centre-Val de Loire region, will give a global vision of the challenges of this economic activity. A tasting of Loire wines of today and tomorrow will be offered to all conference participants during the ECRA cocktail on May 31 at 7 pm in the marriage hall of the City Hall of Tours.
Two sessions were dedicated to European networks on May 31: (1) ECRA (European Climate Research Alliance)1 with P. Braesick, president of ECRA, and (2) CERIS (Community of European Research and Innovation for Security) with the presence of P. Quevauviller, president of CERIS at the European Commission's DG HOME.
Several European projects supported the conference, including ARSINOE, H2020 Green Deal and NEXOGENESIS, of which Citeres is a partner.
Several national research networks working on climate change adaptation issues intervened: the ZAL (Zone Atelier Loire) network of the CNRS and the LACCAVE network of INRAe.
Guest speakers:
Hervé Le Treut, climatologist at the Institut Pierre-Simon Laplace (IPSL), IPCC rapporteur, member of the Academy of Sciences, gave a lecture on the state of global warming on Thursday, June 1 at 8:30 am.
Claudio Paniconi, hydrological modeller at INRS in Canada, gave a lecture on hydrological modelling on May 30 at 8:30 am.
Hans-Martin Füssel, European Environment Agency, Brussels, Belgium
Rosana López, Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, gave a lecture on the challenges of global warming in large vegetation complexes, including forests.
Denis Salles, INRAe Bordeaux, gave a lecture on the challenges of water governance.
The conference will be held exclusively in English: https://ccw2022.sciencesconf.org/
