Descriptif
During the pastseveral decades' new carbon allotropes have been accounted for and synthesised. Many notable breakthroughs include exciting works on synthesis, functionalisation, characterisation and applications of carbon nanotubes, graphene, and graphene-likestructures, like graphitic carbon nitrides.
The excitingprogress made since the initial use of carbons as modifiers of opticalsemiconductors has stimulated many types of research in different fields of theimmediate and relevant application. Apart from the obvious applications inwater treatment and remediation, there are compelling examples inphotocatalytic synthesis, assisted conversion with the production of valuablechemicals or fuels, photocatalytic production of solar fuels, and photo-assistedpurification of compounds of biological and health relevance.
Such materialsalso prompted the development of new integrated and technological solutions, including new photoreactors and combined systems for engineering processes, including microfluidics and additive fabrication.
The duality between fundamental andapplied, as well as between theory and practice, will be used to present someof our latest progress in the field of conversion of hazardous chemicals inaqueous streams with the in-situ generation of added value compounds, selectivephotocatalytic synthesis, photo-assisted enzyme purification, and solar fuelproduction.
