7 Validity of a diagnostic test in every day life

Descriptif

We offer several examples (safety gantry, photography, fishing) to show that the notions of sensitivity and specificity are widespread in everyday life, and to explain the meaning of these parameters of intrinsic validity, or a priori validity. The questions of extrinsic validity, or a posteriori, which lead to the notions of predictive values, are then asked.

Médecin Hospitalo-Universitaire (Maître de Conférences des Universités – Praticien Hospitalier), spécialisé en Parasitologie-Mycologie. Ses sujets de prédilection sont les maladies à transmission vectorielle. Il est donc amené à collecter et analyser des données biologiques, épidémiologiques, entomologiques et environnementales. Il enseigne la Parasitologie-Mycologie, l’Epidémiologie et la Statistique qui est devenu l’un de ses principaux centres d’intérêt.

Doctor at the University-Hospital (Assistant Professor), specializing in Parasitology-Mycology. His favorite subjects are vector-borne diseases, therefore, he collects and analyzes biological, epidemiological, entomological and environmental data. He teaches Parasitology-Mycology, Epidemiology and Statistics, the latter of which has become one of his main interests
