Descriptif

Patrizia Fracassi  (Senior Nutrition and Food System Officer, FAO) explains (and gives examples) that interventions within the food systems can have competing priorities that require balancing risks and benefits.

It is important therefore to understand how the trade-offs between the inevitable risks and benefits will influence the environment, health and socio-economic impacts.

Adopting a comprehensive agri-food systems perspective, which considers the journey of the food from the eco-systems all the way to our plates, can help identifying these trade-offs and ensuring that any trade-off, at the minimum, does not harm the most vulnerable people.
